chomping at the bit and rollin' rollin' rollin'

I kept trying to tell everyone that I had a tooth coming but no one would believe me! Well it's true. My very first pearly white made its arrival this weekend, painfully poking through my extremely sore gums. All that drooling and gnawing on blankets and toys and mommy and daddy's shoulder is serious business folks. It has a purpose ok, DUH.

In other news, tummy time is getting really fun. Instead of just going face down in the muck and fussing, I finally figured out how to hold my head up high and see all the interesting things from a new angle. And then, voila... just as mommy was about to turn away, I rolled over from my tummy to my back. She thought I might not do it again for a while, but I did I did! I did it again today :-).

Fine literature and other discoveries

Well, my grandma Pat has been reading to me since the beginning so I am already a big pro. I decided to wake up in the middle of the night last night (around 4:30 am) because my dad was still playing poker with his buddies downstairs. I thought it would be fun to wake up mommy and read some books! We read about four books, which was really fun. I even tried turning the page of one of them. Some of them have funny stuff to touch-- those are the BEST. Maybe next week we can get into the Jean Paul Sartre but for now I think the touchy feely ones are more interesting.

Later this morning, my mom really wanted me to try to hang out on my tummy for a while. This time I fussed a little bit as usual, but I was looking all around and started to hike up my feet and turn in an effort to roll over. Still don't know what to do with that annoying arm... I guess you just have to tuck it in and roll! I'll keep working on it. Mommy is getting nervous that It's almost time to Auggie-proof the house. EEEK!

Sleep and Motility

Last night, rather than keep mom and dad up, I decided to go to bed right around 8. I did fuss some, just to make sure that nobody forgot that I was still a baby (I need to capitalize on this before my time is up), but I was basically willing to go to bed early so the old timers could get their beauty rest. Yesterday afternoon, using my powers of mind control, I manipulated Mom into buying me the coolest toy ever created .. an Exersaucer 2000 Turbo. This beauty has a rotating turret and all kinds of birds and cows n' stuff hanging from plastic polls that dangle like Christmas ornaments and rattle. It has all sorts of accessories that chirp and buzz, and it's all made out of highly colorful plastic, which adds a touch of elegance and class. It's awesome and dazzling and I'm sure it will be the talk of the complex. I can't wait to play in it tomorrow.

Also, yesterday during my designated tummy time, I lifted my head up really high and kicked, and guess what?? I moved forward, just a little bit. I think there might be something to this lifting of the head while kicking thing. I can see the distant potential for it increasing my independent forward motility... I definitely plan to investigate during my next session.

Keeping daddy and mommy awake

Today I wasn't feeling very well at all. I fussed and fussed and I think I was a little bit hard on everyone. I may have my first cold, but I'm not really sure yet. I went to grammy's house and played all day and looked at Grandpa's water fountain. When I came home again, I played "uh oh, spagetti-o" with daddy. I love that game! For about the third time, I laughed almost like a grownup. Daddy makes me laugh when he plays that game. After that, I felt tired and a little cranky again, and it took daddy and mommy about five hours to calm me down. Daddy carried me around in monkey pose for at least two hours, then bounced me on the bouncy ball for another hour. I think he is a little tired now, so I better go to sleep... I can't wait for tomorrow.
